Jackson, Minnesota Speed Traps
Several miles south of Jackson on the Minnesota/Iowa border
Going South of Jackson, MN at the Iowa border, with the speed limit 60 in Minnesota, the speed limit drops off to 55 mph in Iowa. Iowa state troopers take advantage of this as you are coming out of Minnesota. The area is hilly also, providing them good hiding spots.

Entering Jackson from the North on US 71, the roads are very flat. After a golf course on the right, there is an sudden downward sloping hill. There is a reduced speed sign posted for the driver, but it is too late – the momentum of the vehicle will have already caused a gain in speed. There is an abrupt turn to the left and the momentum causes the turn to be very dangerous. Someone is waiting at the bottom. See the many victims of this trap – mostly out of towners who would only navigate roads by the poorly posted signage and the circumstances of the downhill slope.
