US Highway 14 near Eagle Lake Sign

Mankato, MinnesotaMay 15, 20050 Comments

Eagle Lake cops will cite you for any reason whatsoever… Typical small town cops, they wait at the entrance of the city ("Old" 14), where the speed limit goes from 55 to 35. If you are on old 14 traveling through or into eagle lake, you’d BETTER be doing 30. They typically are waiting at the gas station or "The Eagle’s Nest" parking lot.

The Eagle Lake cops, and the Highway Patrol also park off "New 14", the more commonly known 4 lane highway that passes north of eagle lake.

State Highway 169 near US Highway 14

Mankato, MinnesotaApr 02, 20051 Comments

Leaving Mankato on Hwy 169 towards St. Peter, just as you pass under Hwy 14 there is the big gas station/Happy Chef parking lot on your leFort The cops will sit on the very broad driveway into this parking lot and you won’t hardly see them after dark. When coming into Mankato you get one sign letting you know the speed is dropping from 65 to 55. Not necessarily unreasonable in the day but at night it’s wide open and 169 is very much like an interstate setup, speed of traffic is usually closer to 70.
