Minneapolis, Minnesota Speed Traps
2600 Wirth Parkway
2 police officers parked in roadside rest using radar. Site is on top of a hill.
Interstate 94W, both eastbound and westbound directions
It is not uncommon to see two or more state troopers at various times a day with cars pulled over. Oftentimes westbound and eastbound are worked at the same time, with troopers up on the hill behind bridges. Speed posted is 55 mph, but flow of traffic is 65-70 mph.
Nicolett Ave. at 51st St.
Two to three police cars with be parked behind a resident’s van and the officers will stand in the street with radar guns clock people coming up the hill (going north) on Nicollet. This is a common speed trap, mostly on the weekends and before dark. Mostly there on Friday thru Sunday.
10th Avenue Bridge at the University Campus connecting Law School / West Bank to Dinkytown area (alongside 35W)
Police Vehicles frequent the bridge constantly. Usually speed up behind you or clock / laser speeds of vehicles. Bridge is alongside the freeway, straight and feels like a "highway" ~ much higher speed. Only Speed Limit sign is in the middle of the bridge which is usually too late since police vehicles would have clocked you already. Many times the Speed Limit sign is spray painted to a higher limit (probabaly caused by distressed motorists) and looks to be "60mph" or higher speeds for afar. BEWARE!!
