East Hennepin Avenue near SE 5th Avenue

Minneapolis, MinnesotaDec 01, 20072 Comments

Heading west on East Hennepin from the 35W exit, going under a railroad bridge, there is a fairly large dip that will cause vehicles to increase speed. The bridge, overhead, obstructs the view up the road which is where the patrol sits (just west of 5th Ave SE/NE Taylor St). By the time drivers see the patrol, they have already been hit with the radar. Posted speed limit is 30 MPH though the road in this section is fairly straight and four lanes.

North 7th Street near US Highway Olson Memorial

Minneapolis, MinnesotaNov 04, 20070 Comments

Minneapolis Police like to sit at 7th St N and Olson Hwy, one officer will stand out with the radar gun and one will be on foot directing the car to pull over. I’ve observed many flatbed tow-trucks hauling cars away I’m guessing for no insurance, etc…This is happening as you come out of downtown going north on 7th st. going over a bridge just past 3rd Ave North, its easy to speed, when you get over the hill thats when they get you. Be careful!

Interstate I-394 East near 12th Street

Minneapolis, MinnesotaOct 29, 20070 Comments

Driving EAST on I-394 from the west into Downtown Minneapolis >Downtown exits.

Just before 12th street exit, speed limit drops to 40 MPHS from 55, but still 3 lanes interstate, no intersections.

Patrols usally sit close to the Washington Ave / 4th street exit. Sometimes cycle with radar gun.

They monitor every so often, but fines are pricey, $130.

Cedar Avenue near East Lake Street

Minneapolis, MinnesotaOct 13, 20071 Comments

During the a.m. rush hour, very frequently you will see an unmarked MPD vehicle backed into the cemetary driveway on the east side of Cedar Avenue just north of East Lake Street. He often has more than one vehicle stopped in the northbound traffic lane.
