Maxwell Road near US Highway 61

Newport, MinnesotaDec 20, 20060 Comments

When heading southwest toward 494 from Hwy 61 on Maxwell, there is a hill you go down, that curves to the LeFort On the Left hand side of the road there is a Excel energy maintenance center. They sit in the driveway and use laser on oncoming traffic through the gap in the trees. Often times you will not notice them until either 1, you pass the plant and see the officer, or 2, the red lights are in your rear view mirror.

Glen Road

Cops are always around Glen road (which is a dark and woodsy road) and I really don’t blame them. The speed limit is 40MPH which is fast enough with all the animals especially deer and cats that are always getting killed, not to mention all the walkers that have no shoulder or sidewalks to walk on where the road drops from 40 MPH to 30 MPH after Loveland park towards tenth street. I think the speed limits are very reasonable and I have been lucky so far not to get caught in the many speed traps I have seen, since I travel that road nearly everyday. Even though I am careful with my speeds, it is easy to gain speed in the 30MPH part heading towards tenth since you drive down a small hill and pick up speed and right around a curve in the road is a favorite spot for the cops radar to catch you. And from what I also heard from many people, They really are tough cops and do nail alot of people. I have also seen many cars pulled over. So be careful, drive safe and good luck!

Bailey Road @ Bailey Ct.

During the day the officer will usually sit in the Bailey Nursery Parking lot and catch people as they come around the corner after it turns from 55 to 40, however in the evening they sit in the valley on an empty driveway enterance right across from Bailey Ct and catch people as they speed up too quickly to go into Woodbury.
