55th Street near 41st Street

Rochester, MinnesotaJan 19, 20040 Comments

Boy, the Rochester Police are really focusing on this street lately. There was a clear "trap" at the intersection of 55th and 41st streets next to the bank there. The patrol car was on 41st street (which itself is only like 20 feet long) behind a tree with what looked like a radar gun outside his window checking cars as they were going by on 55th street about noon on a Saturday. This long, wide straightaway is artifically low at 40 MPH (many long side roads off of it are 45 MPH) and people routinely go at least 50 here, so watch out. This, plus the 4 way stop sign enforement farther up the road, shows they are concentrating on this road!

US Highway 52

In the midst of the construction, there looks like theres a break just north of the city…they are making an overpass then nothing for at least a mile. Cops love to sit here, especially since fines double since this is a "work zone"

On 4th Ave SE between 12th St SE and 9th St SE

Police sit in cars in a church parking lot and point radar either north or south at approaching traffic. This practice just started 4/3/3 and looks to continue for awhile.

N. Broadway

Rochester, MinnesotaOct 17, 20020 Comments

Mostly friday night and saturday night. The ‘young punks’ will be out hanging around and cruising up and down Broadway. The police don’t seem to have anything better to do so they’ll sit in gas station parking lots, etc. and look for any excuse to pull you over. I had 1 headlight out so a cop followed me for 10-12 blocks before pulling me over!

Hwy 52 from Roch to the Twin Cities

Rochester, MinnesotaJul 31, 20020 Comments

If you are like me and travel between Roch and the cities, there are a myriad of two-cop-towns along the way. All of these cops, when bored, will hang out on 52 and will sometimes tailgate you for miles until you make a move. The locations are: Oronoco, N past Zumbrota, N past Cannon Falls, Coates, and the 52/55 split area (highway patrol).
