Saint Paul, Minnesota Speed Traps
Ford Parkway near Mississppi Boulevard
Unmarked traffic cars & motor cops will work this for vehicles coming across the bridge from Minneapolis. A lot of tickets are passed out here every week
US Highway 61 near Carver Avenue
Northbound 61 as you cross under I-494 and Bailey Rd, just north of Newport, MN. Immediately after the overpass and slight curve, patrols are on the right hand shoulder. Often times there are multiple cars and/or motorcycle patrols enforcing at this location.
Point Douglas Road near Lower Afton
Unmarked police car and sometimes marked highway patrol nestle in amongst parked resident vehicles mornings and evenings. Road feels like 40 mph is just fine, but the very few speed limit signs indicate less. I’ve seen at least a dozen stops. Trap is there for 2-3 days at a time about 1-2 times/mo.
Cretin Avenue near University of St. Thomas
When driving north of Summit Avenue on Cretin, unmarked cars sit on either side of Cretin, just north of St. Thomas. Speed limit here is 30. People often accelerate around cars turning west to get to the east river road. Quite easy to get up to 40 mph as one approaches Marshall Ave. Typically present 1-2 times/month up to 4-5 times/month.
Ayd Mill Road near St Clair Avenue
When heading south towards I-35 on Ayd Mill Road, the officer waits to the right, perpendicular to traffic, just before the St Clair overpass, usually in an unmarked, sedan, and is clearly visible.
