Across street from west bound I-94 exit to US 71(Main St)

Sauk Centre, MinnesotaJul 19, 20130 Comments

Usually a Sauk Centre city cop (black and white) sit across the street from where you stop coming off I-94 (exiting west bound ramp). Evidently the idea by these ticket hungry officers is that you roll through the exit stop sign and BAM! your wallet is lighter. Your attention when coming up a ramp is braking down from 70 MPH and turning. You just do not see them sitting right there in front of you across the street. Also, anywhere on Main St. (US 71) beware. They sit like spiders in a web by a light source. Ready to fill the city coffers with your hard earned green backs.

3-marked Mn.Hwy.Patrol, 2- unmarked and 2- Local PD work the area extensively from I-94 north on Main St. to the viaduct. The area is lucrative enough to cause their pencils to smoke and keep them coming back for over a year now.

Surprised this hasn’t been listed…MN Hwy 28 from Sauk Centre all the way West to the South Dakota border…almost 100 miles. State Patrol happy hunting grounds…counties & cities have fun, too. Drive 60 or less and you should be OK…anything over 60 and you’re likely to get popped. Watch the long hill going into Glenwood! Lady trooper out towards Morris has a nasty attitude to boot.

State Highway 28 between Sauk Centre and Glenwood

The 25 miles between Sauk Centre and Glenwood was once voted the worst speed trap in Minnesota. It is posted at 55, and you had better set the cruise there. Several residents of the towns that Hwy. 28 serves have fought 1 over and lost. The road it flat and straight, with lots of blind spots for the sherrif of State Patrol to hide in. They will pull you over at the drop of a hat. As with many of the desert 2-lanes of the Arizona desert, it could safely be posted at 65 for the entire length.
