Stillwater, Minnesota Speed Traps

Stillwater police love this spot after the sun goes down. It is just east of Manning Av & just west of the Hwy 5/Co Rd 5 overpass. This area is very dark (no street lights) & the cop sits in the center median. It is a 60mph zone, but it is not posted anywhere east of Manning Av. There is one cop that sits there so often he has worn his own personal dirt road in the ditch. Cars traveling e/b are coming out of a 65mph zone (which really means 70-75) and don’t slow down in time. If they are w/b they get caught speeding up to soon for the 65mph zone. Have only seen one officer sit there, it’s always the same guy. He must be making a career out of playing state trooper because he is always there, when he’s not, he’s writing someone a ticket. Be careful!!

This is a 4 block stretch of 30mph squeezed between a 40mph zone and a 45mph zone. Watch out!! Even though this is a very short stretch, I have seen the cops sitting in about 6 different places, all of them very sneaky, and impossible to see them, until it is too late. This is a narrow residential area on the north end of downtown, it is curvy and has a lot of hidden intersections and driveways. This is a big money maker for the city.

The cops will sit in the turn lanes or the office building parking lots. Speed limit is 30 because there are residential buildings on this road but with the hills and the turns and a long stretch of road…it’s hard to stay at 30 and easy to miss the police, especially with the new cars.
