Velvet Beach, Minnesota Speed Traps

2 miles south of the intersection of county roads 3 and 11, south of Crosslake, MN, the Crosslake and Breezy Point police departments are contracted to monitor the Velvet Beach speed zone. The zone is 45 mph through a straight stretch where lake homes are on both sides of the road. I have been stopped three times in the last year driving 50 mph through the speed zone. There are several side roads that the officers sit on to watch passing vehicles in this high-tourist area.
