Starkville, Mississippi Speed Traps
Coliseum Boulevard near Humphrey Coliseum
Be careful to stay within the speed limit of 20 mph, especially on sports gamedays and at night.
MSU PD will have no problem writing you a ticket for doing 30 mph in the 20 mph zone (the whole road).
And don’t forget that 4 way stop at the Lakeview intersection near the Coliseum. Although the signs are there, many people will run the signs.
Hwy 45 at Hwy 82 Overpass
Hwy 45 is a 4-lane highway both North and South of the Hwy 82 overpass. The speed limit is 65 MPH both North and South of the Overpass. However under the overpass the speed limit immediately drops to 55 MPH (still 4-lanes of traffic though), and both Loundes County Police and Miss. Hwy Patrol cars like to sit under the overpass and nail people who miss the 55 MPH signs. The also goes for people exiting off of Hwy 45 and onto Hwy 82 in either the East or West Direction.
Hwy 12 (Hwy 82 East on ramp and Univeristy Ave)
If you are either getting on Hwy 12 from University Ave, going toward the MSU Campus, or through the light coming from Hwy 25… beware of a Starkville police officer anywhere in this area. Usually they are in plain view, but sometimes they can be very sneaky and hide. Speed limit is 45 on this road, so make sure thats what you are going, otherwise you definately will be pulled over. The tickets are reasonable compared to most other states Ive lived in, but they are still expensive…. 15 over the speed limit will cost you about $80. The entire city of Starkville and Oktibbeha County is a speedtrap, and if you can avoid the city all together, do just that.
Just inside the city limits on all highways into and out of Starkville.
Starkville Mississippi is a speed trap! Any major highway in or out of town.
