Near 270 on New Florissant Road

Calverton Park, MissouriMar 14, 20130 Comments

Cops are constantly pulling people over and I received a photo enforced ticket. Avoid driving through this area if at all possible. Find an alternate route. The speed changes to 25 mph and back to 35 mph and it is hard to tell when to slow down or speed up. Fines are written for any speed over 25 mph. Fine is $100.

High level of enforcement, many friends have had tickets in the area for 5mph over, or pulled over for 5mph under then tickets for no insurance card available, or license plate bulb out, or other minor issue. Will pull drivers licence and keep at police station even for an issue such as the license plate bulb being out or not displaying a front license plate to make sure you come back in immediately to pay court cost and fine.

The speed in this North St. Louis County municipality is 30 MPH down from the 35 in the municipalities to the north and south. This is a small municipality and it seems that tickets are their main source of income.

The 1/2 mile strip of Florissant Rd between Florissant and Ferguson, beginning at McCluer High School and ending at the Phillip’s 66 gas station, is one to watch for. They say 35mph and they mean 35mph. Often times the officers will have 2 cars pulled over at the same time, one at each end of the strip, and I have seen as many as 3 at once. The township has about 6-7 unmarked and marked cars total, in white, dark blue, and black. They have even been seen taking radar in the parking lot of the Phillip’s 66 parking lot (technically outside of the township), or following drivers into the township from either Florissant or Ferguson, and then pulling them over.
