Eureka, Missouri Speed Traps

Lewis Road onramp Eastbound…car sits on the top of the bridge with another car ready on the onramp.

They have an electric sign at the 266 exit bragging that they have written over 1300 tickets since the fall of 2005. There have been a lot of accidents close to exit 261 (Six Flags exit) that have resulted in a lot of deaths so they are watching this stretch of interstate like Hawks.

When traveling east on Interstate 44 just after exit 261 this is the �Eureka/Six Flags� ramp, there is daily speed trap and most of the time it is with Lazar. As you come over the new bridge the officers will be parked just past the Ford Dealership on the grass or the old (but still used) on ramp to 44 east. By the time you see them it is to late. It is also just a few miles past the speed reduction from 70mph to 65mph. It is a money maker for Eureka.

Hwy 109 not only is a speed trap, it is a death trap too. Eureka Police sit 2-3 cars deep on the parking lot of the old driving range across from Eureka High School. Quite often have 2-3 cars stopped just north of there. They write most anyone, not a lot of warnings are given out. This is the site of several recent bad accidents, and it is VERY heavily rnforced,

Construction in the area has the speed limit reduced to 55, not 65 like it used to be. They sit eastbound at the top of the hill, westbound before the bridge, westbound after the bridge, and eastbound afetr the bridge. WATCH OUT. There is two guys up there usually. A black and white car sits westbound, with a white one eastbound. They switch off and WRITE EVERYBODY! GO THE SPEED LIMIT. Minimum fine sign says that it is $250 plus the speeding ticket.
