State Highway 8 near Hunt Street
Leadwood City Police commonly sit along Highway 8 in Leadwood City limits. Speed limit on Highway 8 is 55 mph and speed limit doesn’t drop. There are city limit signs posted on highway. Be sure your speed is not above 55 between the two city limit signs which are about a mile apart. As you go by Leadwood on Highway 8, the highway curves and they like to sit on opposite site of roadway (both directions) and get you as you round the curve. Also, just west of Hunt Street exit is a roadway known as Leadwood Cemetery road. They like to set off the Highway there on both sides of highway. Leadwood has practically no businesses anymore so city depends alot on revenue from speeding tickets. They are commonly seen between midnight and 2 a.m. although this morning they were set up at 9 a.m.

The Leadwood police set just out of eye shot and catch speeders going both east and west on this road. I’ve seen them stop people quite frequently. This road is quite busy because it leads to the Potosi Prision so there is considerable traffic at certain times.

Small rural town location is remote and cannot be seen from new highway. The 2-mile stretch of highway claimed by township has no business or houses just open road. Town patrol car usually sits at bottom of long grade out of sight waiting for victim.
