Springfield, Missouri Speed Traps
Grand & Grant Crossing near On the Church Parking Lot
on the intersection of Grand and Grant street. Watch out for cops in the church parking lot and on the Grant street in the abandon gas station.
Grand Road
Intersection of Grand Street and Campbell Street, in the Parking lot across from the cemetery.
Kansas Expressway near Sunshine Street
Going North on Kansas Expyway above Sunshine St. have seen several cops sit across from the Masonic Lodge at the corner of Kansas and Catalpa. The last couple of times laser guns were used. It is a divided 4 lane and the speed limit is just 45 mph. Looks like they have plenty of customers there.
US Highway 60 – James River Fwy near Republic Road
I’ve seen Springfield officers set up several times on the James River Freeway, in particular on weekday afternoons. Usually they park in the median under the Republic Road overpass east of Kansas, right up next to the bridge pillar. On a sunny day, it’s very hard to see them lurking in the shadows down there.
From there they’ll watch westbound traffic on the freeway, and since it’s a clear line of sight for quite a ways they have plenty of time to lock the radar gun on you as you approach. It seems like anything less than 10 over the limit is safe, but beyond that you’re on your own.
Walnut Lawn Street near Campbell Avenue
The police officers will sit at multiple points along Walnut Lawn, most notable is the fire station across from the Walmart Supercenter. However also be aware of side streets along Walnut Lawn. The speed limit is 35 and drops to 30 with little notice.
