Lincoln, Nebraska Speed Traps
Mile 405
Westbound downhill stretch. Out of state vehicles targeted, which have no chance of appearing in court to contest. Officer either intentionally or accidentally overstated speed by about 10MPH. Signage says fines doubled in construction zone when construction vehicles are present, but in the middle of the night the double-fine is applied regardless. A very slick, money-making operation aimed at visitors to the state of Nebraska. Nebraska-plated vehicles moving at the same speed were not stopped.
27th and Holdredge heading west on Holdredge
When traveling west on Holdredge Street, lanes merge from 4 to 2 after 27th Street. Speed limit drops from 35 mph on the east side of 27th to 25 mph on the west side. Cops tend to hang-out on 25th and Holdredge and clock people at this transition point. Great source of revenue for these folks.
Highway 2 and Ashbrook Drive
Police sit on north side of the intersection checking drivers heading west from 84th and Highway 2
L Street between 33rd and 40th
Typically weekdays in afternoons during spring/summer/fall. Cops set up at the intersection of 37th and L, northeast corner. Have often seen several cops… training rookies on radar? Typically monitoring west bound traffic, from 40th to 33rd. Speed limit is 25, even though city buses run through at about 35 consistently.
NW 48th Street
Cops sit parked by the nine mile prairie turn and clock unsuspecting motorists.
