Eastern Avenue near Sun City Anthem Drive

Henderson, NevadaAug 19, 20071 Comments

Motorcycle police officer hiding on side street aiming radar gun mainly on traffic moving south on Eastern Ave. Speed limit changes abruptly from 45 MPH to 35 MPH. He will pull you over into the Von’s shopping center. Since this is a short stretch of road, it lends itself to this type of speed trap.

Greenway Road near Horizon Drive

They are targeting the area between Black Mountain Golf Course and Mission Drive. I have not been stopped yet, but I travel this road around 5:30-6:00am daily, and again around 4:00pm and I see others pulled over almost everytime.

Lake Mead Parkway near Golda Street

Henderson, NevadaAug 12, 20070 Comments

Motorcycle officer(s)posted on median at westbound rise of hill. Can’t be seen until it’s too late to slow down. This is a state highway leading in and out of Lake Mead, a major recreation area. Posted limit is 55, but safe traffic flow is usually 75 to 80 on weekdays because it’s a rural, isolated area. Most weekday traffic is by commuters who live at Lake Las Vegas and head west to go to work. Like most highways in southern Nevada, traveling at 55 is more hazardous than 70, which is far more realistic. It may be suburban legend, but it’s a widely held local belief that the City of Henderson relies on traffic fines for revenue.
