Las Vegas, Nevada Speed Traps
Smoke Ranch/ Tenaya
They are just all over this area, because of the glut of 25 mph zones, and a 35 mph on a road that should be 45. My work is at this intersection, and I see them once a week minimum. On Tenaya S of Smoke R, they like to hide in the entrance of the power substation, nearly IMPOSSIBLE to spot until it’s too late, especially in twilight. Rock Springs Rd. east of and parallel to Tenaya is just as bad.
Reno and Duke Ellington, behind The Tropicana H
Two (at times I’ve seen) motorcycle officers zapping cars as they round the corner from North to East. Shrubs block the 25mph speed limit sign until the officers have you. The officer said "It’s a good spot to work."
Lynn Lane between Lake Mead and Owens
A metro cop sits in a white new ford truck with his window cracked down halfway with a radar gun on the inside glass so you can’t see it…As you pass by the posted limit is 25. Anything over 30 gets a $140 ticket. I was driving by this area on the 3rd day at about 11.30 at night. The whole sides of the streets where people stopped on the side, I counted 13 cars, no bikes. The neighbors were cheering the police on as they stopped people.
Tropicana between Paradise and Koval
Metro cycle cops constantlyrun stings here. Have seen up to 6 pairs of motocops stoppin anyone for anything. Usually runs about twice a month.
Harmon Ave.
Moto cops working in pairs on Harmon between Eastern and Pecos. Average is 2-3 times a week at any given time. Limit posted is 25mph….don’t go over 30mph.
