Moapa, Nevada Speed Traps

Resevation police are hungry and this strech of highway is one long speed trap! A particularly brutal area is traveling south on I-15 between mile marker 84 and 83 where the divided highway sudenly slopes down. A flat area is revealed a police officer with an instant radar gun pops on. They did me a favor of giving me a reservation ticket for $350.00. I said thanks!

This stretch of I-15 is heavily trafficed weekdays with trucks and tourist RVs. The speed trap is at the bottom of a long steep grade coming out of the mountains. The patrol car hides under an overpass just as the highway curves to the right and begins to flatten out. The posted speed is 75 mph. The apparent speed of the trucks in the right (#2) lane was 85 mph, so any attempt to merge into that lane requires a higher speed.

Coming down an incline in a completely baren landscape, at the bottom of the hill is an officer waiting to nab you.
