Wide parking lot of “Taylor Rental” at Middlesex border

Dunellen, New JerseyJun 19, 20100 Comments

Often a marked patrol vehicle will be sitting on the parking lot of the last building on the southbound side of Bound Brook Rd. aka ST HWY 28 just before a small bridge going into Middlesex boro. As of this post the shallow parking lot of the currently unused building has a sign that says “PARTY SUPPLIES and RENT*SALE”. They are known to be there at any time during the day or night This particular trap to has an uncanny knack for suprising motorists during the wee hours of the morning due to the location being at both a lowered position combined with a unique bend in the roadway. It is also important to note that no matter what position the patrol vehicle is facing (at least that I know of) the cop is always able to get a clear accurate reading and the Dunellen Police have an array of P71 Crown Victoria’s (marked & unmarked), Dodge Chargers, Ford Explorer’s and Expeditions for such a small community that only has a department of 18 officers … coordinates of exact location of center of lot are 40.587492, -74.474551

the infamous Washington Ave. AKA county rd. 529

As everyone has previously posted it’s a nasty trap being that there is a huge drop of the speed limit from Greenbrook going southbound into Dunellen on such a large 4 lane divided roadway not to mention that it’s just after a previosly intersection with a traffic light 🙁 You have at least 2 things going for you though; a.) there are only a finite number of places that either a Dunellen or neighboring Greenbrook patrol vehicle can sit and hide and b.) the wide open geography also works to your advantage in that you can see them just as easily as they can see you-and for quite a distance at that being that no one is allowed to park on either side for a good stretch it 🙂 One such place Dunellen has hid is on the northbound side just before the start of the larger bridge pointing perpendicular facing the road on a driveway precisely on the Dunellen line, it’s right at a sign that says "leaving Dunellen" and it’s much larger than what is shown on Google maps streetview. It’s a real nasty one being that if you’re going southbound into Dunellen after the rediculous speed limit drop you would have no practical way of seing the cop before it’s already too late being that the car is well obscured by both the guard rail of the bridge along with the previously mentioned sign. Remember I always give precise locations and times of speed traps and not any obnoxious scare tactics like "they’re out there and watch out or they’re gonna getcha" kind of crap ! Precise time & location of previosly mentioned hiding spot was April 20th, 2010 about 3:00 P.M. at 40.598089, -74.469594 with a marked Dodge Charger.

Washington Avenue near Piscataway to Green Brook

Dunellen, New JerseyJul 08, 20070 Comments

County route 529 runs through Piscataway, Dunellen and Green Brook. Dunellen’s speed limit is 25mph, the other towns are posted 40 for the same roadway. Town cops are predatory. Hide in driveways, behind other cars, etc.

This is a classic speed trap. 40-25mph in a heartbeat. You literally have to slam on the breaks as you go over the Greenbrook bridge from Rt22. What’s worse is that you have 2 lanes merging into one, so if you speed up to try and pass someone, they nail you. Cops are almost always on the northbound side of CR-529(aka-Wash. Ave) facing Rt22, but they aren’t afraid to pop U at anytime. And, because it’s not far from Dunellen HS, at some point a block or two before rt28 where children are present.

Be careful when in Dunellen. They have many ways of ctaching those who exceed their posted speed limits. I have heard of people who have been pulled ovder for going as little as ONE mph over the speed limit. All I have to say is this…don’t mess around when in Dunellen. You may pay for it.
