Fort Lee, New Jersey Speed Traps
State Route 4 E. near Parking lot of discount beer warehouse
cop sits in parking lot behind base of a sign…if your riding the shoulder you will get nailed…both fine and points…they make a living in this location
Palisade Avenue near Riverdale Street
The Fort Lee police park on Riverdale Street out of view of Palisade Avenue where they can get you for speeding or jumping the light. I observed them regularly when I was walking for recuperation from surgery. Fort Lee is very dangerous for speed infractions and has some unmarked cars (saw one stopping a "speeder" on Palisade Avenue in the last year). There are many pedestrian accidents on Palisade Avenue, so they probably feel it is important to control speeding, but everyone should beware.
Anderson Avenue near Riverdale Street
Anderson Avenue south turns southeast around Riverdale Street. Road has a lot of trees. So they will hide to one side of the road (road is 2 lanes one way/one direction). Many times they will hide in Riverdale St. itself tracking you as you pass by the intersection.
Lemoine Avenue near GW Bridge
This trap covers all of the GWB bridge plaza surrounding streets, (especially around entrance to the bridge from Palisades Ave) is not only a speed trap, it’s also all turns and light violations as well. This is either Fort Lee cops or Port Authority, (not sure). This one is quite unique in my experience, as they do not use a cruiser or an unmarked car, instead they are in a rectangular emergency services truck you would not normalcy give a second look. Watch for them around rush hour and over the weekends, it’s usually in plain site. This has been independently confirmed by a business owner in the area.
State Route 63 near PIP Overpass
Fort Lee Police sit on the west side of Rt.63 (Lemoine Ave.) just south of the PIP overpass by the Fort Lee High School using radar for traffic going north and south on Lemoine Ave. Speed limit is 25 in that area but is 35 just north of that area. Unable to see ahead until you come up the hill and then it is too late.
