Brandon Farms — Denow Rd near Federal City Rd

Hopewell, New JerseyNov 30, 20100 Comments

Hopewell Twp has installed speed humps between Brandon Rd West and Chicory Lane to keep traffic at or below the posted 25mph. Police regularly perch on the Federal City Rd end of Denow Rd in the area where the speed humps were not put in. They park in the trees by the Mill pond, on the grass at the corner of Shrewsbury and are often found on Spring Beauty Dr. FYI: Spring Beauty Dr is Lawrence Twp.
What I find interesting is why no speed bumps were put in the lower section… Perhaps it is because there are no homes in that section, but then why, if it is not residential, is the speed limit not 35mph? Can you say cash cow?

Carter Rd near the Citgo Station

Hopewell, New JerseySep 03, 20100 Comments

Across from the Citgo station, there’s a wooded area where the police set up a trap for people not strictly observing the 25 mph speed limit. There is an elementary school nearby.

Going toward Hopewell from Cherry Valley Road on Carter, this is a quick change from 45 mph to 25 mph.

Roving Undercover ( 2 )

Hopewell, New JerseyMay 25, 20100 Comments

Black Ford Explorer SUV, totally blacked out windows, bike rack on rear, all over the township and especially within Brandon Farms. P.D. also uses Ford 4 dr. sedan, silver w/totally blacked out windows. Both vehicles just drive and enforce the rules. Brandon Farms is posted 25 mph, P.D. allows a five ( 5 ) over limit and then writes ticket.

County Route 579 through village of Harbourton

Hopewell, New JerseyMay 25, 20100 Comments

The 45 limit reduces to 35 for about a quarter mile through this hamlet and its T intersection next to a historic landmark (former tavern) fieldstone house. There is a little white historic rural chapel across from the T intersection, with a cemetery behind and to its South. Police wait on cemetery driveways South of (and out of sight from) the intersection, alternatively a few hundred feet still further South, in front parking yard of a historic red two-room schoolhouse. Awareness is limited Southbound, also slightly downhill, through the village and South of the T intersection. Speeding less likely Northbound because enforcement is easily visible prior to the speedlimit reduction. Route 579 aka Pennington-Harbourton Road — also changes to Bear Tavern Road a couple of miles South of the village of Harbourton.
