State Highway 208 near State Highway 4
Watch out for this one, folks…I see people getting pulled over every day. Where Route 208 South dumps into Route 4 East in Paramus, the speed limit instantly drops from 55 to 50. Bergen County police will pull you over and give you a ticket for doing 2 miles over the speed limit (they just want your money). NEVER do more than 50 mph on Route 4, East or West, between the Hackensack border and Route 208. It’s filled with cops all hours of the day and night. Be particularly careful at times when this road is less clogged–early mornings or late at night, which are really the only times you can speed on this congested stretch of road.
State Route 17 South
During the PM rush hour (4pm-7pm) There’s always a Paramus Cop (in one of the parking lots of a shopping area) that’s looking for people who ride the emergency lane to get past the backed up traffic. Because traffic gets backed up (starting at Century Rd all the way to Rte. 4) people begin to ride the emergency lane (on the right) to go past traffic. That’s when they’ll get you. It’s hard to see them cause they’re prety far in the parking lot.
Glen Avenue near State Highway 17
Glen Ave just past Barnes & Noble is a regular speed trap. Signs are posted at 25 mph. Police sit down the street, facing eastbound and watch for oncoming cars. Glen is the street between Barnes & Noble and Pontiac.
State Highway 4 near Garden State Parkway
Bergen County Police will sit on either side of the Route 4 near the Garden State Plaza using radar. The car has no top lights on it but is clearly marked as a county patrol car.
