Riverdale, New Jersey Speed Traps

At the base of the hill on Rt. 23 South below Butler. Police sit in a commercial parking lot with radar aimed up the hill. The speed limit drops to 45 MPH on the down grade and they ticket everyone that picked up speed. The Riverdale municipal court is filled to capacity with violators every session for this violation.

If you are heading toward Bloomingdale on Hamburg Turnpike, coming from Riverdale. You go past the quarry and you come around a bend with two parking areas on each side.bPolice will sit there all throughout the day radaring you. Speed limit is 25, but when there’s no traffic it is very hard to do 25. Riverdale is extremly strict about speeding.

There are 3 speed limit signs within 1/2 a mile, 50 mph then 40 mph then 50 mph. It is at the end of ramp from RT 287 where it meets RT 23 south bound. Motorist may miss the 40 mph sign, and cop catches you right there. The penalty is very high on this one.

This trap is on the Hamburg Turnpike in Riverdale from the Railroad crossing near I-287 and the Quarry, to the bridge to Main Street Bloomingdale. The posted speed limit is 25 mph while traffic usually flows at a safe 35-40 mph. The road has very few houses or buildings and is a double-yellow straight-away.
