On Hwy 550 going South exiting Bloomfield, NM

Bloomfield, New MexicoJun 23, 20120 Comments

After driving through Bloomfield, you will come to the outskirts of the city where the speed limit is still 35mph. Once you go over the bridge for the San Juan River, you begin to go uphill and notice the speed limit sign of 50mph. However, the cops sit just before the sign and pull you over. They say the speed limit is not 50 until you get to the sign.

Law Enforcement (LE)- County Sheriff, Tribal Police, and State Police – are using "instant on" radar/laser technique to catch those who are traveling over the posted speed. Designed to foil radar detectors, as they get you just as your detector activates. Only way to avoid getting "catched" is to be behind a vehicle sufficient distance to catch the radar overflow as the front vehicle is "painted,’ and slow down before the radar paints your vehicle. Generally, with posted speed at 70, LE will allow up to 9 MPH over, but that’s not universal. Cuba and San Jsidro city LE don’t usually use "instant on," but are very active in radar enforcement.
