Ruidoso, New Mexico Speed Traps
Highway 70
Officers in this area like to sit on the side roads on hills above the highway completely out of the view of any passing motorists. They always respond with 3 cars on any traffic stop. You can’t drive down this road for more than 20 mins without seeing someone pulled over.
Hwy 70
HWY 70 the speed limit changes from 55 to 40 to 45 to 40, all within 2 miles. Ruidoso, being a tourist town, Texas plates can get away with almost anything. All others, especially New Mexico plates beware. The average ratio of police to civilians is 1:1200, in Lincoln County N.M. it is 1:85. Take care, ANY violation is enforced. Seat belts, L.C. plate light, anything. They’re so many officers, they are falling all over each other to find something to do.
