Auburn, New York Speed Traps

The stretch of Grant Ave (Route 5) between the Hess gas station and the plaza with Bed Bath & Beyond is simply crawling with enforcers. They sit right by the roadside, and so are easy to spot, but they also use laser vigorously to get the jump on you.

It is common knowledge that Auburn Police will waive trivial infractions by residents, but will consistently punish non-residents. This towny behavior earns them a High Enforcement rating, since no one goes 30 on this busy stretch, and yet they continue to pull over car after car rather than applying the 85th percentile rule to redesignate the road as a 45.
