Verazzano Bridge lower level, Brooklyn bound, near exit for Belt Parkway

Brooklyn, New YorkMar 28, 20030 Comments

As you cross the bridge on the lower level heading into Brooklyn, a marked car will sit facing traffic on the shoulder next to the Belt Parkway exit. The end of the bridge slopes downhill so you will pick up speed. Officer is using instant-on laser. You can also be cited for illegal lane change if you’re in the Belt Pkwy exit lane and cross the solid line to take the BQE or vice versa. Get in your desired lane earlier when you get on the bridge.

Varrizano Expressway, Staten Island bound, at foot of bridge

Brooklyn, New YorkSep 12, 20020 Comments

At the on ramp to the bridge (500 Fortbefore the bridge) the speed limit changes from 50MPH to 45MPH. Also, this is posted as a construction zone, which DOUBLES the fine. An unmarked car followed me across the bridge, and made the stop just before the tolls on the other side. It has been my experience, during light traffic the speeds average at 60MPH safely.
