Chatham, New York Speed Traps
Rte. 295 heading south into Chatham
Speed limit drops from 55 to 30. Cruisers hide behind a hill as the road curves to the right. They also sit in an open lot at the bottom of a hill just below the other spot. Chatham is notorious for stopping anyone going over 30 mph anywhere in the village.
Route 295 East Chatham
Three spots in less than one mile stretch. Both, State and County police. Speed limit goes from 55mph to 35mph. In the 35 mph there is passing allowed in the hamlet. They sit at Bradley Crossing road. Next, across from general store and then in a residence drive way on the east bound side. Traps are usually on travel days since this is a main access for downstate to the Berkshires and Vermont. I have seen a trap at 6:30 AM during the week. Advise to do the speed limit while driving thru East Chatham.
Rock City Rd & Thomas Rd (between Rte 295 & 66)
Cruiser sits in disused driveway just below Thomas rd at bottom of hill, end of blind curve. Area recently reposted 45mph from 55.
Rock City Rd @ Thomas Rd
Police park in disused driveway screend by bushes on eastern side of Rock City Rd below Thomas Rd at end of curve/ bottom of a hill. Road recently posted 45mph.
River Road near Passic River Crossing
Police sit on the east bound side of River Road in a little dugout right over the Passaic River Bridge coming from New Providence. They never give a break.
