Both the North and South ends of the town of Elba on Rte 98.

Elba, New YorkOct 05, 20100 Comments

Traveling south when you enter the north end of town there is commonly a patrol car parked on the downslope of the east side of the little hill where the speed drops, they like to sit there in the dark with no lights.

On the south end of town across from the bank they tag people going both directions, it too is right where the speed zone changes from 55 to 30.

These two locations are very popular. The North position is easy to see from 1/2 mile away if you pay attention, the south location is blind until you’re right there.

it is 55 until right before the hill coming up to 98. they hide behind trees down near the stop sign, lots of times there are school busses there, it’s right across the street from the car dealership. be careful! the speed limit sign is not very visible because of tree branches! i live in oakfield on 262, and travel this alot- almost always see people pulled over here!

State Route 98 near From Albion to Elba

Elba, New YorkAug 21, 20060 Comments

Most of the trip from Albion to Elba is a straight run, open highway. Yet the speed limit is only 55, far too slow for existing conditions usually. This stretch is heavily enforced with a large police presence. Not unusual to see at least 2 or 3 cop cars along the way, either driving along, or parked over on the side of the road somewhere. They vary their location greatly, so it’s best to be extra vigilant at all times on this stretch. They also love to cite for things like no seatbelt, headlight violations, and other miscellaneous stuff. Big revenue generator for the village. Be very vigilant if traveling to Elba.
