State Highway 5 and 20 near 84 Lumber

The speed limit drops quickly from 55 to 45 to 35 to 30. The first drop, you can’t even see the speed limit sign. The local cops sit in the parking lot of 84 lumber and also the car dealership, so you can’t see them.

State Highway 5 & 20 near State Park

As you pass the last stop light, leaving Geneva, headed East on 5 & 20 you are in a 45 mile per hour zone. You are still within the city limits, but due to the lack of cross-streets or turn-offs, you have a sense of being out of town. About halfway between this point and the turn-off to the state park is a small gravel pull-off. I have frequently seen police officers parked there to enforce the 45 mph speed limit. It’s not out of sight, but it is very unnoticable! Be careful here! Once you pass the state park entrance, the speed limit is upped to 55.

South Main Street

Geneva, New YorkAug 26, 20070 Comments

Heading south down Main St. about 200 yards past the corner of Jay st. and Main St. Police sit at the bottom of the cemetery hollow facing cars coming down the hill. Usually sits back fairly far off the shoulder of the road. If your coming from Lochland Rd. you have no chance to slow down because when you first see the patrol car it’s about 50 yds. behind you.

State Route 39953 near Pulteney Street

Geneva, New YorkJun 07, 20070 Comments

When heading west on 5&20, just past the light on Pulteney Street there is a white building with a large parking lot. Local police will hide there at random times throughout the day, but mostly in the early mornings when there is little traffic. As mentioned in other listings, the speed limit changes from 45 to 35 a little ways down the road. If you fly by this area at a ridiculous speed, prepare to see lights flashing behind you and be handed an expensive ticket before you reach the Wegmans supermarket and Town Plaza.
