Harrison, New York Speed Traps
Turn left onto RT-22 S/RT-55 S. Continue to follow RT-22 S.
When you go one highway to the next you wind up on a very short service road and the speed limit is 40mph there is a spot to the left where police cars sit and wait for cars and pull over people who look like they’re “not from the area”. To reduce your speed from 65 highway to 40 in this short space is dangerous because so many other cars are merging at the same time. The ticket was $390 AND 6 point on your license if you don’t reduce your speed intime. I was ticketed for doing 62 in a 40. I also had to pay a Driver Responsibility Assessment of $300 to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Route 95 Northbound – Harrison County
In Westchester County, the speed limit on Rt 95 is 55. Because it is a thruway with many lanes, it is easy for out of state vehicles to assume that the speed limit is 65 like most other states. One would expect the speed limit through the city to be 55, but not when you get to Westchester County. Out of state vehicles who are long distance driving are targeted. I was going with the flow of traffic and have RI tags. I was targeted. The officer acted like he was doing me a favor by reducing the speeding ticket to a parking ticket. Long story short – fine for a parking ticket was $175 plus you have to send everything into court by certified registered mail twice – once for the plea and the second for the fine. Ridiculously overpriced fines and very tedious process!!!
Westchester Avenue near Interstate 684
During the evening W/B Rush Hour on Westchester Ave, Harrison Police use laser speed enforcement in center mall of Westchester Ave westbound, just over the crest of a hill past the I-684 entrance ramp and Thruway Cross-Westchester Expressway Maintenance Yard.
Mamaroneck Avenue
Crossway of Hutchington River Pwy and I95. Speed traps and stopping cars for other reasons are clearly used to collect money for town of Harrison and have nothing to do with safety. Hefty fines and scare for more if disputed. Out of state licence plates are favorites.
I-287 Between exits 10 & 11 On the right
Trooper sits on the right side of I 287 on an island. Zaps you then preceeds to catch up with you a mile later right before exit 11 (Rye/RT 1 exit).
