Hauppauge, New York Speed Traps
The State Trooper was hidden behind a bunch of trees, I would have slowed down if I had seen him but he was pretty well hidden. He clocked me at 75. I tried talking my way out of it by telling him I was rushing to get to an Exam at Stony Brook University, but it was pretty clear he was a ZERO tolerance kind of guy.
The speed limit at this section of the Expressway Service Road is posted at 40MPH, instead of 45. When you get off at exit 57, the police are there pulling people over before you get to the light at Vets Hwy, which is a really short distance from the exit ramp. Before you have a chance to slow down, merge, and avoid traffic, and being that the speed limit is not what you’d expect because they reduced the speed limit on this short run, you get pulled over for speeding.
NY State police set up a speed trap each Saturday and Sunday morning near the end of the Parkway where it merges with Route 454. Motorists traveling more than 60 mph can expext to be chased and stopped. This usually occurs in the mornings on Saturday and Sunday.
Rush hour, there is a patrol car 3 of 5 days a week in the center lane with his radar/laser monitoring the cars mostly west bound. He is also checking for the HOV lane single passenger violators
