State Highway RT 13 near State Highway RT 366
On the way from Ithaca to Dryden on route 13. there is a police station (after NYSEG) .lots of police cars are parked in the parking lot. but beware one of them is ready to go.
State Route 13 near First Street
Going North from Downtown, speed limits on 13 go from 30mph to 40mph to 55mph over a very short distance. When it’s late and nobody is traveling north on 13, it is easy to speed between these signs and they’ll clock you going higher than 30 just prior to the 40 sign.. watch out!
Triphammer Road near Community Corners
This trap is on Triphammer Rd just past Community Corners on your way to Cornell campus. A Cayuga Heights police, sometimes unmarked, will sit on the side of the road in the Pine Hill Apt complex. It’s tricky because the police vehicle often looks like he is a parked car in the complex. The speed limit is 35, but people usually drive much faster and the police are fairly vigilant about patrolling this area.
State Route 79 near Near Linderman Creek Apartments
On State Route 79 coming into Ithaca from the west (dropping elevation rapidly), the speed limit drops from 55 to 30 with no reduced speed limit sign. There is a pull out on the right just after Linderman Creek Apartments (on the left). There is often a state trooper or a Tompkins County Sheriff sitting here. They will also nail people coming west out of Ithaca up the hill at over the speed limit.
State Route 89 near Allan H. Treman State Park
Coming south on RTE 89 into Ithaca, the posted speed drops to 30 as you come downhill past the park. Police often wait on the east side of the road for unwary motorists.
