NY State Highway 28

Kingston, New YorkDec 01, 20000 Comments

Four-lane State highway Kingston to West Hurley, with constant steep grade eastbound. Two lanes West Hurley to Boiceville. Only road west through Catskill Mountains. Ludicrous 45 mph.speed limit with maximum enforcement for eastbound motorists going down the long grade from West Hurley to the NY State Thruway interchange at Kingston (about 5 miles). You can get away with 5 mph. over the 45 mph.limit, but will be nailed for 10mph.above.

US 9W bypass, about 1/4-mile S.of north end(for southbound traffic)

Limited-access highway down a long hill. Ridiculous 45 mph. posted speed limit. Cops hide off the road to the right, screened by trees in the foreground. They also hide farther down the long grade under an overpass, where sheer gravity makes it difficult to hold the speed to 45 mph.without riding the brake or downshifting to a lower gear. This road should be posted at 55 mph. with a minimum 5 mph.leeway.
