Lake Grove, New York Speed Traps

There is a cop that sits off of Hallock road, on Elizebeth ct. He is near the side which is closer to Middle Country Rd., near that gas station at the corner. He likes to sit there at night, sometimes day and catch masses of people for various reasons. Lake Grove residents, have you been to the village courts lately? There is not even room to stand in there, it is so crowded and obviously corrupt.

New Moriches Rd. that connects Middle country and 347 along the side of Macy’s at the Smithhaven mall. Police will sit on the North side VERY late at night…. around 9 -10 and grab the employees that are leaving Sears or Macy’s. They like to get the people driving SOUTH and will turn their car around and nail you on Middle Country after you have made your turn. They usually are tucked in tight within the side entrance to the JCpenny home store so you can easily miss them lurking about.

This Speed Trap is located in the south end of the Lake Grove Village – On Hawkins Avenue approximately 100 feet south of the Cayuga School Crossing at the intersection of Dual Drive / Lafayette Avenue. Police park their vehicles on the Dual Drive and a patrolman stands on the sidewalk on Hawkins Avenue with a Radar Gun ( almost unnoticeable ) and targets suspected vehicles traveling south through the school crossing above 15 MPH. Vehicles caught speeding are waved into Lafayette Avenue were one or more other patrolman are waiting to write you your speeding summons, plus anything else they can get you for. For example – No Seat Belt – Expired Inspection and / or Registration – Outstanding Warrants – etc. NOTE: The speed limit on any other part of Hawkins Avenue is a maximum of 30 MPH – BEWARE LAKE GROVE !! Their out there!!

Between Middle Country Road and 347. Just North of the Fire Department across from a wooded area, cops hang out in the wooded area on foot and across the street in their cars with their radar gun. The speed limit is 30 and the village police will pull you over for going just over the limit.
