Lancaster, New York Speed Traps
Central Avenue near Lancaster High School
Cops love to sit in the church parking lot, school parking lot, or on a side street, catching people coming south around a curve. Even though it’s not a posted "school zone", per se, cops will treat it as such and will nail you if you’re going much over 35.
Bowen Road 1/4 mile south of Broadway
Cops sit in the parking lot of a small park just north of Cayuga Creek, often taking their lunches. Go northbound around the curve too fast, and you won’t be able to see them until it’s too late.
Broadway, between Central Avenue and Village Line
Cops will often sit in the nursing home parking lot and on side streets, sometimes hidden behind houses, ready to nab you if you go above 30 mph.
Pavement Road between Nichter Road and Walden Avenue
When there is no snow, cops will sit in the entrances to old quarries located on both sides of the road. Hidden behind trees, you can’t see them until it’s too late.
Aurora Street in front of the Middle School
There is always a patrol car sitting in the school parking lot during weekdays. I know the officer is usually in the school but sometimes another sits in the car with the radar on. My detector will go off when passing this spot most days.
