Long Island, New York Speed Traps
Long Island Expressway near Between Exits 35 and 36
Cop has an amazing spot. If you are on Long Island heading towards NYC (on the LIE), he’s around a bend tucked sideway on the right hand side, long before exit 36….nearly undetectable. Was in a brand new, marked but no light-bar, muscular Nassau County Highway Dodge Challenger/RT/whatever…he’s using lidar. Between the road’s curve and the lidar’s zooming telescope…ya don’t stand a chance. The only reason I saw him was that I was driving behind him on an entrance ramp from the west bound Northern State. You’ve been warned…
Meadowbrook Parkway near Exit Number M4 – M5
There is a large section of the median on the Meadowbrook Parkway around Exits M4 and M5 (or vice versa) that have a LOT of vegetation, Police vehicles are capable of pulling behind and possibly INTO the vegetation. There is one area to be particularly wary of and that is the Hempstead Turnpike bridge, where there is dense vegetation surrounding the support pylons, but Police routinely maintain pathways to and from the underside of the bridge, where it is clear and paved and gives them the ability to tag in either direction when you pass under the bridge.
