Norfolk, New York Speed Traps
State Road 56
I got a speeding ticket from the village police in Norfolk, NY on State Highway 56. I was pulled over with out of state license plates while a guy with NY plates who was in front of me and driving much faster than I proceeded unmolested.
The town looks like some 1930s dust bowl relic to rampant poverty and illiteracy. The downtown is falling apart and depressing looking. There don’t appear to be many jobs but apparently they are smart enough to utilize the state highway through their town to make money – the probably town hires part time police officers to ride around and radar ticket people. I went to traffic court and won, but I doubt others are as lucky.
