North Salem, New York Speed Traps
State Route 22 near Spur Street Road
Primarily local, but sometime NY state police hang out with radar on the southbound side of this route (which parallels interstate 684). Their favorite spot is about a mile south of the reference point, the latter being close to a deli (the Swan, which is right next to the named reference point). Despite the fact route 22 in this area is flat, broad and straight, the speed limit was intentionally lowered several years ago from 50 to 40 to turn it into a speed trap. Weekends in wamer weather are a particular favorite of the local police, who turn this into a literal ticket mill.
Hardscrabble Road near entire length / Hardscrabble Road
Local police hide along the entire length. The 35 MPH speed limit is so ridiculously low that it is almost impossible to maintain for more than a mile or so.
