West bound lane of the Parksville Bypass Rt. 17

Parksville, New YorkDec 16, 20140 Comments

Traveling westbound on Rt.17 (soon to be RT.86) there is a new elevated section of highway that has bypassed the traffic signal controlled exit #98 intersection. The new section of highway still has a Parksville exit in both directions but they are now common exit/enter merge types. When you pass the west bound #98 exit you travel for a few miles at the highest elevated portion of the highway. Beware, as you descend from this new section of highway there are billboards on the right hand side of the road and more often than not there’s a radar car concealed in it’s shadow’s………… often more than one. If you see him, and you’re doing more than 70, you are toast!! This is a major speed trap and it more than makes up for the loss of all the crossovers that were in use when the old highway was in existence. I have seen 4-5 cars at that location, one radar observer, and 4 chasers. Revenue production at it’s finest……..
