Ravena, New York Speed Traps
State Route 9 West near Exit Number 21 B – NYS Thruway
If you are driving northbound on Route 9W, the posted speed limit is 55 mph until you come to a 1-mile section in Ravena where it is 30 mph. There is no "Reduced Speed Ahead" sign or other warning that the speed limit goes down. Police patrol constantly and tickets are frequent. Ravena is a small town and an inordinate amount of time is spent issuing speeding tickets. There is no school in this 1-mile section which would necessitate this unreasonably low speed limit. This is just a way for the city to make money.
State Route 143 near Main Street
Traveling west on 143 aka Main Street, you’ll go under a bridge, then to your right will be Railroad Avenue, continuing on Main, immediately to your left is a firehouse where in the front parking one or two officers usually sit, local and sometimes the county sheriff. They face either east or west.
US Highway 9W near Winne Avenue
When travelling towards 9W on Winne Ave. police officers sit at the intersection directly to the left at an automotive business. Traveling north on 9W it is located on the right at the bottom of the first hill past Marshall’s garage. Also, when traveling north, police officers tend to sit past the automotive business on the right where 9W intersects with route 101. This spot is hidden by a ridge.
US Highway 9W near State Highway 143
Village cop sits in front of garage at Ford Dealership facing traffic headed south on 9w. Speed limit recently changed from 40 down to 30 thru whole village. Don’t go over 30, they are jerks.
Anywhere in the town of Coeymans
If you see a Ravena or Coeymans cop car you have a 50/50 chance of getting pulled over. They are a bunch of kids and will pull you over for looking at the wrong!!
