County Route 58, center village of Stockton, NY

Stockton, New YorkSep 01, 20150 Comments

This is as nasty and unfair a speed trap as you’ll ever find. As you are coming from the west on County Route 58 headed toward Stockton, you go down a long, steep hill prior to reaching the tiny village. The speed limit on the hill is 50 mph, but at the bottom of the hill, without warning, it quickly changes to 30 mph, and the cops sit there waiting for people to go by at greater than 30 mph, which is very easy to do due to your momentum from having gone down the steep hill. As soon as you hit the 30 mph zone, they will nail you. If you are not familiar with the road or area, and do not know about this trap, you are a dead duck. And they won’t give you a break. Avoid Stockton, NY at all costs, the crummy little village is nothing more than a money trap, and the cops are highway robbers!
