Stony Brook, New York Speed Traps

On the west side of stony brook rd heading north toward 25A there is always a police car tucked into the gated service entrance to Flowerfield.

Usually an officer sitting in the parking lot of the Stony Brook Fire department north of 345 waiting to nail unsuspecting and usually poor students with speeding tickets. Speed limit on Stony Brook Road is 30.

For the entire stretch of CR-97 (Nicholls Road)from the northern terminus at Rt 25A in Setauket/Stony Brook to about a mile or so south of the LIE I-495 unmarked cars patrol. They’ll usually leave you alone if you’re going under 65mph (limit is 55mph). Above that you’re in jeopardy. While they can be anywhere they usually are looking near either the State University or the Community College.
