Syosset, New York Speed Traps
N Service Road of Long Island Expressway near East of S. Oyster Bay
30mph speed limit on road where most people safely travel at least 40mph.
Cop hides his vehicle on a side street, then stands in roadway and points his device at you. He will stop you for as little as 1mph over limit. He will only leave you alone if you slow to 25mph or less. He will apparently leave full-size schoolbuses that pass you alone as well.
Underhill Boulevard near Willis Avenue
About half the way down Underhill Boulevard police cars hide in the driveway of the construction site next to the Liquor distribution company. The speed limit is posted as 45 MPH, but most people travel around 55 MPH and once you see the police car it will be too late. They WILL ticket you for traveling 55 here, mostly because it is a dangerous drag strip for teenagers, especially during the nighttime hours.
Split Rock Road northbound at Meadowbrook Road
This is a relatively busy road with a 30 MPH limit and occasionally a motorcycle cop will stand on the SE corner of Split Rock Rd & Meadowbrook Rd. aiming his radar gun at the northbound traffic. By the time you come out of the slight curve on Split Rock, you might be able to see him but by then he will have already nailed you.
