Interstate 81
Driving between Syracuse, NY and Binghamton, NY, going north or south, about every 10 miles there are turn around roads for municpal vehicles and usually you will find a State Trooper sitting in one about every 20 miles. They sit on the north side and after catching someone speeding drive to a turn around and then catch someone on the south side. There is a stretch of road that the speed limit drops from 65 to 55 and if, you are going over 60 they will stop you.
I-81S (South Side of City)
On I-81S just past S. Salina Street Exit; police will often be in a grassy area on right side of highway. Speed limit is 55. 65 does not begin until well past I-481S bridge. Speeds under 70 are typically tolerated.
Comstock Avenue near Syracuse University
posted limit is 30 mph and police will ticket for anything above 40 mph. It is the area between South Campus and Main Campus.
Kirkville Road near Fremont Road
Expanded "School Zone", covering a quarter mile stretch of heavily travelled Kirkville Road which runs by school athletic fields. Speed limit is down to 35 MPH from the previous 45 MPH. Similar streets in the area, even through the center of East Syracuse, are still 45 MPH.
