Main Street

Another biggie, albeit low-key, is the 15 mph speed zone in front of the school on Main St.
In that zone they hand out tickets like free beer.

Interstate 90

Just before the outlet mall there is a slight bend to the right. They sit there and run K, Ka, and Laser. Sometimes they have 1 person gunning and another chasing. When they are on radar you can pick them up before you see them. I picked up the laser about 3 seconds b4 I made the bend, off someone else but it wouldn’t have done me much good if the other person was actually driving more than 73 in the left lane. I passed them at around 75 when they were using K band, and they didn’t look at me, so they are looking for "big fish".

State Highway 96/96A

All along 96 and 96A from Ovid north to Waterloo, particularly north of the Army base you will see troopers waiting to nab you. Particularly close to Waterloo, because the Waterloo cops love to get in on the action too.

Route 5 & 20 School Zone

Waterloo, New YorkNov 09, 20020 Comments

We know we should be extra cautious in a school zone, but this 15 mph stretch is absolutely unreal! The 15 mph flashers go on at 6AM and don’t go off until 6PM. School is out by 3:00, by the way. Those last 3 hours are small town cop heaven. 5 & 20 is a four lane highway going through there, yet they insist on the 15 mph. During the morning school arrival time (aka RUSH HOUR!) they will post a police car in the left lane of traffic creeping along next to a school bus in the right lane of traffic with a line of cars literally a mile long behind them. (People trying to get to work, you know?) As soon as they break from the 15 zone, these people are so stressed and frantic to get to work they often shoot past the bus, exceeding the limit and cops pop out of the sideroads to write them up. NICE LITTLE SCAM. Meanwhile, the drug dealers are all over the school grounds, but those honest folks just trying to go to their legal jobs have all the cops tied up writing tickets! Seems backwards…
