Aberdeen, North Carolina Speed Traps
US 1 near Town & Country Shopping Center
Cops cruise around the Town & Country Shopping Center in the mornings looking for people speeding & trying to get their kids to school on time and use the parking lot as a short cut. They sit behind the old cinema to catch you turning off US 1 and cutting across the parking lot in a hurry…..during the day, they will actually try to pull people with expired tags trying to get to the DMV place TO GET THEIR TAGS!! They will literally give you a ticket in the parking lot in front of the License Plate agency for expired tags even though you are there to purchase your tags instead of being worried about the people who are out joy-riding on expired tags….talk about a vulture picking bones!!
US 1 near the Aberdeen police station
Anytime you see an Aberdeen police car on US 1 count on them using their radar. Be especially careful from Town & Country shopping center down to Aberdeen Lake.
Saunders Ave between US1 and Bethesda Rd
This road is posted at 35 and there are speed traps weekly around several corners. Watch your speed. I got at ticket about a year ago, so now I set my cruise control for 35 and it feels sooo slow. It’s easy to speed on this road, but don’t!
State Route NC5 near Linden Road
going east and on NC5 out of Pinehurst NC towards Aberdeen NC which takes you to US1. Just past Food Lion Shopping center and Hess Station on right. (RR tracks on left side of road as you go east.)There is a small burm or hill on NC 5 and speed is marked 35MPH. Cops sit just past Linden Rd (200′ from top of hill) in Antiques shop called "Caddie Shack" and catch speeders on NC5 and people who do not come to full stop at Linden Rd. to enter onto NC5. I have also seen same city cops sit on NC 5 just on the other side of hill going west towards Pinehurst NC and catch them forgetting to slow down to 35 from a 45 once past Linden Rd. Cop just waits all day and evening to write tickets to people as they come over the small burm type hill in road. Hill is hardly noticeable until it is too late and they get you. Cop doesn’t have to drive but 200 yrds all day and gets his quota in a couple of hours.
