Blowing Rock, North Carolina Speed Traps
Blowing Rock Hwy 321 Bypass
Marked cars hide in the shadows at the beginning and mid point of Bypass. Only 1 post in each direction of speed limit. Town police chief hires newly trained officers often around 21 or 22 years old. Townies call them “Bullies with Badges!” They also hide at night near town resturants and bars stopping people leaving to test for DUI. I was stopped by an officer hiding in a driveway of a business near a popular resturant/bar saying I ran a stop sign of which I did not. It gave the officer an opportunity to give me a sobriety test, ( I passed) search my car for ???? asked me if I could say my abc’s backwards ??? nobody can do this. Made me count from 74 to 42 backwards, then site my abc’s. The officer was very threatening and held us for about 45 minutes in front of resturant. Townies call it “The Blue Lights of Blowing Rock!” So, come to Blowing Rock on vacation and leave on probation.” These young police officers hide all over the town. The town is over policed by traffic officers for a little town of so few people. Blowing Rock is a serious “Speed Trap.”
