Bryson City, North Carolina Speed Traps
between exit 69 and exit 72
when you go under the over pass of exit 69 trooper will be hid up on a bank on the right side of the road in some small tree he is targeting out of state cars the clerk was laughing when I went to pay the 218.00 ticket I told her where he had got me. I will never run the speed limit through there again I will be going 5mph less than the posted speed limit.also 1 more thing I was following 2 cars in front of me and when he said I was speeding I ask him about the car in front of me and he said they were running 2mph less than me so if that was true would I have not ran over the guy in front of me. This was one time that I decided that I had no chance in hell and I had just been had. P.S I have not had a speeding ticket in 23 yrs im 45 yr old
US Highway US 74 near Hyatt Creek Rd Road
This is the Exit for Ella and Bryson City. This area is an easy place to hit a higher speed as the road dips done for about 1 mile from either direction and speeds are already at 60 MPH. The SHP sets on the Hyatt Creek Rd bridge partially hidden behind some trees on the south side of the bridge and has a view of either direction. He generally uses a hand-held radar unit.
US 19
Just a warning to be careful. The speed limits are way too low throughout the town, certainly not warranted by traffic or conditions. US 19 southbound suddenly drops from 45 to 20, and the first thing I saw as I rounded the corner was flashing lights (he had someone else). There’s even a 4-lane highway posted at 20! Every speed limit is at least 10-20mph too low, all very unreasonable.
